Domaine ARNOUX-LACHAUX -- Several 2012s from Bottle

Domaine ARNOUX-LACHAUX (Vosne-Romanée)

Some 2012s  from Bottle

These wines were bottled at the end of February 2014. Although the oak on the three grands crus is 100%, it is well-integrated and not especially noticeable.

2012 Chambolle-Musigny
The nose here is still closed, but the mouth shows dark fruit, tenderness, and roundness. With a touch more grip, the wine would be even better. 20% whole clusters. I’d look to 2024-2037 for peak drinking. 88/B+

2012 Vosne-Romanée   Hautes-Maizières
Here, too, the nose is rather closed. The mouth is round with dark plum fruit that is forward and enjoyable. There are tannins, but they are not disturbing, and the wine has good length. 40% whole clusters. I’d look to 2024-2037 for peak drinking. 88+/B+

2012 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru – Les Procès
Here, the nose is floral. The wine is medium-weight with dark plum fruit that is juicy and round and the tannins are only in the background. There is a little creaminess to the texture. 40% whole clusters. I’d look to 2027-2037+ for peak drinking. 91/A-

2012 Clos-Vougeot
The nose shows typical Clos-Vougeot red and black raspberries. The mouth is round, powerful, and medium-full with black raspberry fruit and tannins in the background. 50% whole clusters, 100% new oak. I’d look to 2027-2047+ for peak drinking. 94/A

2012 Echézeaux
The Echézeaux is dense and a bit creamy with dark fruits and some stoniness, a fair amount of power, some saltiness, and some tannins. 60% whole clusters, 100% new oak. I’d look to 2024-2047+ for peak drinking. 93(+)/A

2012 Romanée-Saint-Vivant
The nose here is spicy, and the spiciness carries over into the mouth where there is dark fruit. The RSV sensuality is clearly present and there is good length, here, but the wine needs more time to become a unity. 50% whole clusters, 100% new oak. I’d look to 2024-2052+ for peak drinking. 95(+)/A
